This color has meant so much to me in my new season of 30. Not sure why because for so long this color represent masculinity to me. However i was called to the beauty of this color while on my Visibly Invisible and Ode to Old Lovers pieces. I researched this color's significance and historic meanings.
During the Renaissance era this color blue was the pricest most expensive paint a painter could use. During the 14th and 15th century it was coupled with Gold when creating beautiful manuscripts and whenever it was used it was used to paint the robes of Mary and Christ the baby. When I looked at what the color blue means in general- here's what stuck out the most: -Represents both the sky and the sea, and is associated with open spaces, freedom, intuition, imagination, expansiveness, inspiration, and sensitivity. Blue also represents meanings of depth, trust, loyalty, sincerity, wisdom, confidence, stability, faith, heaven, and intelligence. -As the color of the spirit, it invokes rest -The color blue in many cultures is significant in religious beliefs, brings peace, or is believed to keep the bad spirits away -Too much blue can create feelings of melancholy, negativity, sadness, self-righteousness, and self-centeredness. Too little blue brings about qualities of suspicion, depression, stubbornness, timidity, and unreliability. After my research, I assumed the meaning that blue directly correlated my consciousness of self. Take what you know and engage with my work.
